On a hot summer day, there's nothing worse than feeling hot and uncomfortable. That's when a portable fan comes in handy. Portable fans are small, lightweight, and easy to carry with you wherever you go. They're also inexpensive, making them a great value for your money.
In this blog post, I'm going to share the benefits of having a portable fan and how I use it to beat the heat in the new normal weather. I'll also provide a review of two portable fans from Jisulife that I own and love.
By the end of this post, I hope you'll agree that a portable fan is a must-have. This is a must-have for anyone who wants to stay cool and comfortable during the hot summer months.
Why You Need a Portable Fan
This extreme weather means that we must be ready for any type of situation. In a tropical country, this means always being ready for extreme heat. It could be raining and cool for one minute, but you can also expect the heat to come back with a vengeance after that.
It is a fact that in our part of the country, power interruptions happen more often than we would like. That means needing a way to cool ourselves when we do not have electricity. We’ve had rechargeable fans in the past, but they never had enough power, and the battery life was too short. I have been avoiding buying similar items until I needed them.
I decided to look up options for rechargeable fans and I ended up buying two of them. I bought these from Jisulife on Lazada (not at the same time though). Here are some of the benefits of having these portable and rechargeable fans:
Benefits of Having Jisulife Fans
Portability
I recently went on a trip to Singapore and my friend suggested that I bring a fan because of the weather there. I bought and chose the Bladeless Handheld fan from Jisulife for the trip. It was small and compact and could fit into my small body bag. I also liked that it did not have any blades. I can avoid hurting myself with it if I reach into the bag and turn it on by accident (yes, I tend to think ahead that way).
The fan was not heavy, and sometimes I forget that it’s in the bag because of how light it is. I also like that I can prop it up and use it like a tiny fan on my table if I want to. It does wobble a bit at higher speeds if I use it that way but it still works. There was also a strap so that you can hang it on your wrist if you need to.
The reason I bought this model from Jisulife was that I had another one from the same brand. I bought it for use at the place I used to work: a mini-desk fan that you can prop up on the desk or hang on the wall. You can adjust the angle of use for this fan because of the design of the stand.
We had a no-electricity policy during lunch breaks at my former job. Since it was a bit hot during the afternoons, I needed something to cool me off. The mini-desk fan is portable and rechargeable but looks more like a tiny desk fan. It is a bit bigger than my Kindle Paperwhite. Like the other portable fan, this was very light and still small enough to put on my desk. This one had blades, but they were like normal fans that were behind a protective screen.
Quiet Operation
Even at top speed, both fans were very quiet. I am a bit self-conscious about carrying a fan around even in this heat. The fact that these fans can run without much noise means that I won’t attract attention for using it. I like that.
Long Battery Life
Both fans have a long battery life. I used the handheld for more than 8 hours at varying speeds before it ran out of battery. The mini desk fan had more hours of battery life compared to the handheld before the battery ran out.
According to the manual, both fans have around 15 to 16 hours of battery life. Both are chargeable with a USB-C type of charger like the ones we use for Android phones. That makes it easy to charge since I don’t have to keep looking for a specific charging cord for it.
As for charging time, if you let it drain it can take around 4 hours to charge the battery. Since it took too long to charge, I have been charging it a little after every use. That may not be advisable since it can affect battery life and how long the fan can be useful. But it’s better than letting it drain and not having use of it at all (which already happened to me).
It would be nice if there was a way to see how much battery it still had left, but these fans don’t have that feature. The saving grace of these fans seems to be that the batteries used are double A rechargeables. I guess I can replace them if the time comes that I can no longer charge them
Strong Fan Power and Speed
The surprising part about these fans is that they have around 4 power/speed levels to choose from. All the levels are cooling but of course, the highest one is still the best in the extreme Philippine heat. The only weird thing about the fans is that the levels don’t go one after another. When you press the button to change levels the speed goes faster then slower then faster again. I wish the setup could have been slower to fast. These varying options make it hard to find the top level when I’m adjusting it.
Doubles as a Power Bank
One of the fans, the mini-desk one, also doubles as a power bank! Yes, if you happen to have this fan while you are out, you can use it to charge your phone. It has a USB port at the back for charging. I’ve tried it and it does work, although I’m not sure how much you can charge your phone with it because I haven’t tried it yet. That was a useful feature. I do not think that I would ever use the mini desk as a power bank. but it is still nice that the option is there in case I need it.
Aesthetically Pleasing Look
There are several colors to choose from when you buy these fans from Jisulife. The color I chose for both was brown, somewhat of a light coffee color. I thought that it looked nice with any color I had on my desk or if I had to bring it along wherever I went. My second choice would have been the mint green one, but I like this shade the best.
Affordable
Both fans, to my surprise, cost little more than P500 each. Not bad considering the features of both. They are worth the price for what they offer.
Disclaimer
I must be clear that these two fans do not replace the regular fans or air conditioning units that we use at home. Those would still be better to beat the heat, especially if you need to cool down a room or more than one person. These would be helpful during power interruptions and when you’re outdoors.
Potential buyers should also be aware that with the hot weather, the fans may blow warm air. Unless you bought a mist fan that blows water with the air, this is something you can expect.
If you are looking for affordable cooling solutions, I would recommend Jisulife fans. The product is worth the price. The products I have are proof of that. They are very useful and effective in beating the heat. It doesn’t hurt that they look very nice too. The colors available are perfect for those who want nice-looking products!
The brand has more types of fans depending on the battery life, speed, and function. Some fans also include a flashlight. They also have those neck cooling fans that you can hang on your neck. They also have high-priced fans can reach almost P3,000.00 on their Lazada shop.
Given how effective the ones I bought are, I'm sure the expensive ones are also worth the money. One of the pricier fans has a 24–46-hour battery life and purifying features. Given those benefits, I’m not surprised by the price point!
Apart from fans, Jisulife also has portable humidifiers (which I need to check out). They also have this umbrella with a fan that has 8 hours of battery life which might be useful on hot sunny days. I'm very curious about that one.
If you own a portable fan or have tried Jisulife yourself, I would love to hear from you. Leave me your reviews in the comments and let’s chat about these products!
