It is important when listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks. If you’re looking for a good pair of earbuds you can use, I recommend the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2. I am the type of person who cannot live without listening to music daily. It’s something that I got from my father, who was a big music fan. I have gone through a lot of listening devices to enjoy the music I love. These range from portable speakers, wired earphones, and headsets to earbuds. My latest sound device, the Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro 2, is something that fits my current audio needs. Here are some of the reasons why I bought these earbuds and why I love them:
Min Yoongi
Full disclosure, I was looking for earbuds, but not the Buds Pro 2 until I saw the ad featuring BTS' SUGA, aka Min Yoongi. I had considered it and the features were intriguing but was on the fence because of the price.
When Samsung released an ad featuring Yoongi, I checked the price again in the Samsung store. I was lucky because they had it at a lowered price, and decided that it was a sign that this was the product for me. Lucky for me, I have no regrets and I am very happy with my Buds Pro 2. Thanks to Yoongi!
Comfort and Fit
As I mentioned, I have tried many different types of sound devices. The convenience and comfort of using earbuds for me is one of the reasons I bought the Buds Pro 2. Wired earphones always get tangled when I use them. I end up replacing them often because of how they get pulled. Headsets tend to be too bulky for me and I don’t like the extra big thing to carry around.
I have had other brands of earbuds before, but the Buds Pro 2 is the right fit for me. They are so comfortable I sometimes forget that I have them on because they fit snugly into my ear. I have also used them while working out. I am happy to report they have not fallen off my ears even with constant movement once they have been fit into my ears.
I can wear these earbuds for extended periods without my ears hurting from too much use. This is better compared to my other earbuds (or earphones, for that matter). If you need extra ear tips, there are also some provided in different sizes in the box if you need them.
Battery Life
The earbuds have a long battery life. According to the packaging it lasts from 5-8 hours. This depends on the use of the noise cancellation feature. So far, I’ve been able to use it about as much time per day before I need to recharge it on the case.
The case itself charges fast and I have no issues with it. It also helps that the earbuds recharge when you put them back in the case. You get long use from the earbuds and hardly notice the need to recharge them.
Connectivity
The Buds Pro 2 is easy to connect to any of your Bluetooth-compatible devices. I have not had any problem connecting it so far. I love that it also has the Auto Switch which helps me to have a seamless switch from one Samsung device to another. I could be watching a movie on my tablet and get a call and it won't be a problem. I can switch to my phone to take the call with the earbuds without much fuss. As long as the buds are already paired to the other Samsung device, that is possible.
To be honest, I did not even know about this feature when I bought the Buds Pro 2. I happened to use it by surprise when I was watching from my tablet and got a call on my phone! It is so convenient!
Sound Quality
The sound quality on the Buds Pro 2 is good. It has 360 audio powered by Dolby Atmos, which gives you a more immersive sound experience. The Buds Pro 2 also has 24-bit Hi-Fi audio. It also has 2-way speakers, a woofer, and a tweeter for wide-frequency response. It also has a deeper bass and crisp treble.
Technical info aside, the sound is better than any of the other devices I have tried through the years. This has gotten more use from me compared to everything else because of it. The voice calls I’ve had on it have also been very clear and I have not had any issues while using it for calls.
If there is anything it lacked it would be the ability to adjust the equalizer settings. So far there is only a specific set of options to choose from. I would rather have the option to adjust it according to my preference.
Durability
According to Samsung, the Buds Pro 2 is water-resistant and durable enough for regular use. With my regular use of it so far, I can say that it is as advertised. I have not tried using it in water, but I got caught in the rain with it on and that did not seem to have any effect on the earbuds. There was also no effect on the product despite getting wet from sweat during my workouts.
Noise Cancellation
The Buds Pro 2 has a noise control feature with three options. They have active noise cancellation that blocks out ambient noise. You can also opt for an ambient noise option that allows you to hear your surroundings. You can turn it off and use it like regular earbuds.
If you want to focus and not get distracted by outside noise, you can turn on the active noise cancellation. If you need to be able to hear around you, you can use the ambient sound option. When you turn it off, it will be the same as if you are using regular earbuds or earphones.
I tend to use noise cancellation a lot when I’m writing because it does remove any noise around me. I use the ambient sound option when I’m moving around and need to be aware of my surroundings.
Other Features
I love that the Buds Pro 2 has easy-to-use controls. You can tap the device to play and control music, take calls, and adjust volume and noise cancellation.
The device also has voice assistant support with Bixby. I haven’t tried it yet so I can't comment on how it works.
Samsung also has an app that you can use to adjust the settings of the Buds Pro 2 via their Samsung Wearables app. I am not sure if this is compatible with other devices with different operating systems. If you use an Android and or a Samsung device to be specific, this would be a great and convenient option for you.
Another feature that I like is the SmartThingsFind. I can use the app on my phone or tablet to find the device with or without the case if I lose it. There is also a feature where the device notifies you if you forget it/move too far away from it. That way you won't leave it by accident, which is useful for a forgetful person like me.
Final Comments
Samsung has been my go-to brand for years for gadgets and they have never disappointed me. Going for a trusted brand is a must for me. I know I will be getting reliable customer support when I need it. I haven't needed it with Samsung, but it's good to know that I can.
The Buds Pro 2 comes in three colors: Graphite, White, and Bora Purple. I bought mine in Graphite, which looks like a matte black/gray combination. I wanted to buy the Bora Purple one because of its distinctive color (plus, I am an ARMY) changed my mind last minute. Other Buds products have different color options available. If the aesthetic value of the device is important to you, I recommend that you look at their other items.
As good as the product may be, it is not something that would appeal to people on a budget. Priced at PHP 12,990.00, it can be a bit steep for something so tiny. I purchased mine during a promo period from Samsung and got it for a much lower price. If you want this you can try waiting for another promo. Either that or choose from the other Galaxy Earbuds available that have a price lower than the Buds Pro 2.
